A couple of years ago, I was talking with an old colleague about the price of OTC NEXIUM (an OTC drug for heartburn). He said he had heard that the cost of Nexium was about $500 a month, which was an enormous amount of money. He went on to say that OTC Nexium is not the only drug that can help the healing of the stomach, but that it can be used to treat reflux and ulcers. However, he added that the cost of NEXIUM (generic version) is significantly higher than the generic version, so he did not think that was the case, at least in my experience. He also said that there are other drugs that have similar effects, but have different mechanisms of action. I think this was the case.
I have a friend who has had a similar experience, who uses the generic version of Nexium, and she has been very happy with the results. She has been very satisfied with the results, but she says that the cost of the generic version is significantly higher than the brand-name version. She also believes that she should not buy any other brand-name drug for heartburn unless the price of the brand-name drug is so high that it is not worth the price of the generic version. So, she is very happy with the results and her husband has said that he can get Nexium for about $500 a month. But what about the cost of the brand-name Nexium?
